Replacing Control Unit For Parking Brake

NOTE: Voltage drop 
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Risk of damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming 

    → Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

    → Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

    → Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A to the vehicle battery

Information 

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester. 

  1. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch on ignition. Press to continue.
  2. Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT
  3. Select the required control unit, i.e. Parking brake  in the overview. 
  4. Maintenance/repairs  must then be selected
  5. Control unit replacement  must now be selected. Then press
  6. Read data  must now be selected. Then press
  7. Press to start reading out data.
  8. Check the chassis number and press
  9. Switch off ignition
  10. Replace control unit.

  11. Switch on ignition. Select the Write data  menu (procedure described above), press and then press to start installing the data that was read out.
  12. The System Tester displays the message Data has been written.  Press to continue.
  13. Read out the fault memory  and erase it if necessary.
  14. Select Automatic coding  in the Coding/adaptation  menu and press.
  15. Read out the fault memory  and erase it if necessary.
  16. Select Calibration  in the Maintenance/repairs  menu and press.
  17. Read the information displayed on the Tester, follow the instructions on the Tester and carry out the procedure.
  18. Carry out a function test on the parking brake.
