Installing Front Disc Brake Pads
- Longer braking distance
- More wear on brake pads
→ Only use the type-specific brake pads listed in the Porsche Spare Parts Information.
→ Replace the brake pads when the brake pad wear warning light comes on, but no later than when there is a residual pad thickness of 2 mm on each axle.
→ Replace the brake discs on each axle as soon as the brake disc wear limit is reached
- Reduced braking effect
- Risk of damage to the brake calliper
→ Fit new pad retaining springs.
→ Fit new fastening screws.
Information
- The back of the pad backing plates must not be greased.
- Disc brakes must be clean and free of grease.
- The core of the warning contact line must not be exposed Insulation that is just worn, on the other hand, is not important.
- If you intend to re-use the brake pad wear indicator: Convert brake pad wear indicator from the old brake pads to suit the new brake pads.
- Installation is performed in reverse order to removal.
Use new pad retaining spring and new fastening screws.
Fastening screws securing brake calliper to wheel carrier > Tightening torque 85 Nm (62.7 ftlb.)
Fastening screw for holder on wheel bearing housing > Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.4 ftlb.)
- Press the brake pedal several times while the vehicle is stationary in order to position the brake pads on the brake discs.
- Check the brake fluid level and correct it if necessary.
The brake fluid level must be between the MIN and 11AX markings. > Min/Max markings for brake fluid
