Checking And Topping Up Oil For Final Drive

• The following conditions must be met in order to fill the transmission correctly:
• Align the vehicle according to driving position on the lifting platform.
• The transmission fluid temperature is approx. 20°C. The transmission fluid temperature must not be higher than 40°C when filling the transmission.
• The engine must be switched off and the transmission must not turn.

Information 

Only use oil approved by Porsche in the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), see Parts Catalog.

1. Unscrew oil filler screw -1-  using > VAS 6928 - Socket wrench set, 39-piece. 
2. Add oil using a hand pump from the > VAS 6563 - Manual metering pumps, Porsche set  until oil emerges at the filler opening.
3. Screw in oil filler screw -1-  and tighten hand-tight.

4. Prepare for oil level check by completing the following steps:
   1. 4.1 Raise the vehicle on the lifting platform in a horizontal position until the wheels can turn freely.
   2. 4.2 Engage first gear  using the manual shift gate.
   3. 4.3 Start the engine and leave the transmission turning at idle speed for two minutes. 
   4. 4.4 Stop the engine in position N.
   5. 4.5 Wait for ten minutes! 
5. Raise the vehicle and place oil collection pan under the transmission.

   Information 

   The transmission fluid temperature must not be higher than 40°C when filling the transmission.

6. Check the oil level.
   1. 6.1 Unscrew oil filler screw -1-  .
   2. 6.2 If oil emerges:  Collect emerging oil until only drops are coming out.
   3. 6.3 If no oil emerges:  Add oil slowly using > VAS 6563 - Manual metering pumps, Porsche set  until oil emerges at the filler bore.
   4. 6.4 Screw in and tighten new  oil filler screw -1-  .

      > Tightening torque 27 Nm (20 ftlb.)
