Disassembling Steering Wheel

- Unscrew fastening screws -1-
on rear cover -2-
.
Mounting for rear cover
- Release control unit -1-
at position -arrow-
and pull it forward slightly.
Control unit mounting
- Remove rear cover -2-
.
Mounting for rear cover
- Unscrew fastening screws -1-
for the paddles -2-
.
Mounting for paddles
- Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-
for the paddles.
Connector for paddles
- Lift paddles -2-
up and off.
Mounting for paddles
- Unclip rear trims at positions -arrows-
using a suitable thin tool (e.g. feeler gauge).
Removing rear trims
- Only for heated steering wheel: Release electric plug connection -1-
from the rear trim at the 6 o'clock position -2-
and disconnect it.
Connector for heated steering wheel switch
- Unscrew fastening screws -1-
on the main trim.
Mounting for main cover
- Lift main trim -1-
straight up.
Main cover
- Release and disconnect electric plug connections -1-
and remove main trim
Connector for multi-functional switch on control unit
- Unscrew fastening screws -1-
for the multi-functional switch and front trim -3-.
Mounting for multi-functional switch and front trim on main cover
- Remove multi-functional switch:-2- with cables and front trim -3- .
- If Mode switch is installed, disconnect electric plug connection -1-
and remove Mode switch -2-
from the steering wheel.
Mode switch
- Disconnect connector -1-
from connector lugs.
Connector contacts
- Unscrew fastening screws -1-
on the contact bridge -2-
and remove contact bridge.
Mounting for contact bridge
- Release electric plug connection -1-
. for wire harness -2-
from the control unit -3-
and disconnect it. On vehicles with heated steering wheel, the electric plug connection for the heated steering wheel must also be loosened at the control unit.
Connector for wire harness on control unit
- Release wire harness -1-
at positions -arrows- from the steering wheel skeleton -2-
and remove it.
Mounting for wire harness
