Replacing ELV Control Unit
- Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
- Risk of damage to control unit
- Fault entries in the control unit
- Coding in the control unit is aborted
- Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming
→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least > Nominal value 40 A to the vehicle battery.
- Switch off ignition and replace the ELV control unit.

Information
The > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy, these are the instructions that must be followed.
A discrepancy may arise with later software versions for example. Information
All remote controls (keys) are required in order to teach a control unit or remote control (key).
Remote controls (keys) that are not taught during the teaching procedure will no longer be recognized by the vehicle.
- > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II must be connected to the vehicle before starting it. Switch on ignition.
- Select the required vehicle type.
- In the control unit overview,
press to call up the Additional menu.
When the question "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears, either press to create a VAL or press if you do not want to create a VAL.
- Engine immobilizer start-up must be selected. Press to continue.
- Enter the PPN user name and password. Press to continue.
- The vehicle identification number (VIN) is displayed. Make changes if necessary and press to confirm.
- Enter the repair order number and press to confirm.
- Follow the instructions on the Tester and carry out the process.
- Once the teaching process is completed successfully, the Tester shows the following status:
BCM front: taught
BCM rear: taught
ELV: taught
DME: taught
Number of keys taught: x
Press to continue.
- Read and follow the instructions displayed on the Tester. Press to continue.
- Read out fault memory and erase it if necessary.
- Exit the diagnostic application
- Switch off the ignition
- > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II must then be disconnected from the vehicle.
- Lock and unlock the vehicle and start the engine using all remote controls.
