Subsequent Work For Diagnostic Scopes
Information
- After removing, installing or replacing, perform the "Sensor wheel adaptation" function using the PIWIS Tester.
- To actively teach the adaptation, perform an adaptation drive together with another person.
- Reset sensor wheel adaptation:
- 1.1 Connect PIWIS Tester to the vehicle.
- 1.2 Select Engine electronics (DME) control unit.
- 1.3 Select Maintenance/repairs tab.
- 1.4 Perform Sensor wheel adaptation reset.
- 1.5 Follow the instructions on the PIWIS Tester.
All 981 and 991 order types except GTx variants
- Perform sensor wheel adaptation with an adaptation drive
.
- 2.1 Get a second person to check the PIWIS Tester while you are driving.
- 2.2 Select Engine electronics (DME) control unit.
- 2.3 Select the "Actual values/input signals " tab.
- 2.4 Select the group "General ".
- 2.5 Select the actual value "Engine speed ".
- 2.6 Select the "M_Misfiring " group.
- 2.7 Select the actual value "M090_Sensor wheel adaptation
".
Value "1" = adapted and (value "0" = not adapted).
- 2.8 Select the "Misfiring " group.
- 2.9 All 991 order types except GT3 variants and Speedster
Perform sensor wheel adaptation with an adaptation drive .
- 2.9.1 Note the actual value "Segment adaptation for rough running, status
".
Value "0" = adapted and (value "2" = not adapted)
- 2.9.2 Bring combustion engine to operating temperature.
- 2.9.3 Perform adaptation drive until M090 actual value displays "1 " → Adaptation is complete .
- 2.9.4 Drive with brief acceleration.
- 2.9.5 Then sufficiently long overrun phase (accelerator pedal not pressed, no fuel injection).
- 2.9.1 Note the actual value "Segment adaptation for rough running, status
".
- GTx variants
Perform sensor wheel adaptation with an adaptation drive .
Condition: Engine at operating temperature
- 3.1 Performing fast adaptation:
Once overrun phase (accelerator pedal not pressed for 7 seconds, no fuel injection)
Engine speed 3, 000-1, 300 rpm.
- 3.2 Detailed adaptation procedure:
Condition: Perform the following procedure at least 11 times until the adaptation status changes.
Get a second person to check the PIWIS Tester while you are driving.
- 3.3 Select Engine electronics (DME) control unit.
- 3.4 Select the "Actual values/input signals " tab.
- 3.5 Select the group "General ".
- 3.6 Select the actual value "Engine speed ".
- 3.7 Select the "M_Misfiring " group.
- 3.8 Select the actual value "M090_Sensor wheel adaptation
".
Value "1" = adapted and (value "0" = not adapted).
Information: This actual value always shows "0" when the engine is not running. This actual value is only relevant when the engine is running.
- 3.9 Perform sensor wheel adaptation with an adaptation drive
.
Drive with brief acceleration.
Then overrun phase for at least 3 seconds (accelerator pedal not pressed, no fuel injection).
Engine speed 3, 000-1, 300 rpm
- 3.9.1 Perform adaptation drive until M090 actual value displays "1 " → Adaptation is complete .
- 3.1 Performing fast adaptation:
