Removing Supply Line (Underbody)

  1. Guide out cover of fuel tank.
  2. Support the fuel tank using > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack  .
  3. Unclip coolant lines for heater in the tunnel.
    1. 3.1 Release and open lock on the holders - - using a suitable tool - - (-arrow  -).

    2. 3.2 Unclip coolant lines for heater - - from the holder in order to expose the fuel line.

  4. Loosen holder - - for the valve on the coolant line for the heater.
    1. 4.1 Screw off fastening nut - -.
    2. 4.2 Loosen holder - - for the valve on the coolant line for the heater from the underbody until the fuel line is exposed.

    WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials 
    • Danger of fire or explosion 
      • → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
      • → Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
      • → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
      • → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
      • → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.
  5. Disconnect fuel line - - at the rear left bulkhead.
    1. 5.1 Release lock on the holder - - using a suitable tool.
    2. 5.2 Open clamping bow on the holder - - and unclip fuel line - -.
    3. 5.3 Disconnect plug connection for the fuel line - - at the bulkhead.

  6. Unclip fuel line - - in the front tunnel from holder - - (-arrow  -).

  7. Release locks on the holders - - using a suitable tool and unclip fuel line - -.
  8. Leave the fuel line - - hanging down.

  9. Get another person to help you to guide out the fuel line.
  10. Lower the vehicle as far as required so that the mechanic lying on a creeper board under the vehicle can guide out the fuel line.
  11. Have a step ladder or pedestal ready beside the vehicle so that your helper can guide the fuel line along.

  12. Disconnect plug-in coupling for the fuel line in the technical equipment space.
    1. 12.1 Press the lock -arrows A  - and pull off the fuel line -arrow B  -.

    Information 

    Plastic lines must not be kinked or bent as this can make them brittle and start to leak.

  13. Unclip fuel line - - (-arrow 2-  ) and move the line as far as the foam -arrow 3-  .

  14. Guide the fuel line and plug-in coupling - - down between the foam and bulkhead -arrow 2-  .
