Removing Tank Vent Valve

Open connections and lines must be closed off using suitable stoppers or caps.

WARNING: Danger of objects or loads falling down

Risk of squashing or crushing
- → Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

Information

It may only be supported over a large area at the oil pan.
Localized loading is not permitted.

Lower the engine by about 10-20 mm for better access.
1. 1.1 Support the engine at the oil pan using > VAS 6931 - transmission and gearbox jack .
2. 1.2 Loosen collar nuts -3 - on the engine mounts -1 -.
  Do not remove nuts
3. 1.3 Lower the engine and remove transmission jack.

Loosen intake pipe at the turbocharger.
1. 2.1 Unscrew screws -2 - and disconnect intake pipe -1 -.
2. 2.2 Replace O-ring.

Disconnect the tank vent line at the bottom.
1. 3.1 Release the tank vent line -1 - and pull it off.
2. 3.2 Unclip line from the bracket -2 - and fastening clamp on the intake pipe -3 -.

On vehicles with Venturi turbocharger connection:
Disconnect tank vent line -1 - at the turbocharger -2 -.
1. 4.1 Undo screw -3 - and pull tank vent valve -1 - off the turbocharger -2 -.
2. 4.2 Close off openings and connections using suitable stoppers.

Loosen tank vent valve -3 -.
1. 5.1 Close off the open connection on the turbocharger using suitable stoppers -1 -.
2. 5.2 Release and disconnect cable plug -2 - and remove tank vent valve -3 -.

Disconnect tank ventilation sensor (or dummy) on the intake pipe.
1. 6.1 Unscrew screw -2 - and hang the sensor -1 - at the side.
2. 6.2 Release and disconnect cable plug -3 -.

Disconnect tank vent line at the top.
1. 7.1 Release and pull off connection for the intake distributor -1 -.
2. 7.2 Release and pull off connection to the intake pipe -2 -.
3. 7.3 Loosen clips -Arrow -.
