Calibrating Fuel Level Sender

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials 
  • Danger of fire or explosion 
    • → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
    • → Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
    • → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
    • → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
    • → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.
WARNING: Caustic fluids 
  • Danger of chemical burns 
    • → Wear personal protective gear.
    • → Ensure that there is good ventilation.
    • → Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
    • → If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

Information 

  1. Empty the fuel tank.

  2. Wait for a while (approx. 1 minute) to allow the fuel-level sensor to settle down to the level.
  3. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition. >> to continue.
  4. Select the required vehicle type.
  5. Select Instrument cluster  control unit, then press >>.
  6. Select the Maintenance/repairs  menu and press >>.
  7. Select the Fuel tank calibration  menu and press >> to start.
  8. The message Fuel tank calibration completed successfully  appears on the Tester screen.
  9. Press F12 to exit.
  10. Fill the vehicle with fuel and check the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster. Wait a few minutes. Fuel gauge shows full.
  11. Change terminals.
    1. 11.1 Switch off the ignition.
    2. 11.2 Wait approx. 30 seconds.
    3. 11.3 Switch on the ignition.
  12. Check the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster again. Fuel gauge shows full.
