Removing Exhaust Manifold

Information
- Pre-treat corroded components with anti-rust agent or heat.
NOTIFICATION
Incorrect handling of oxygen sensors
- Damage to oxygen sensors
- Different exhaust emission behavior
- → Do not remove the plastic cap on the thread until just prior to fitting.
- → Protect oxygen sensors from impact of any kind.
- → Do not kink or twist the cables when screwing in the sensors.
- → Do not re-use dirty or damaged components.
- Loosen oxygen sensors upstream of catalytic converter at the left and right.

- 1.1 Unclip both cables from the holders.
- 1.2 Unscrew oxygen sensors.
- Unscrew nuts -1
- and studs -2
- on the exhaust manifold/turbocharger flange -3

Information
- An internal serration screw is installed at this position on some vehicles.
- Loosen screw with a chisel and unscrew it.
- Replace it with a hexagon-head bolt (M8 x 28) with the Part No. 900.378.121.00.
- Loosen exhaust manifold flange holder.
- 3.1 Loosen and unscrew screw -1 -.
- Remove exhaust manifold -1

- 4.1 Unscrew screws -2 - securing exhaust manifold to cylinder head.
- 4.2 Remove exhaust manifold -1 - by pulling it downwards.
