Checking Engine-Oil Level Using The PIWIS Tester

NOTIFICATION
Incorrect oil level
- Risk of damage to engine or catalytic converter
- → Check the oil level regularly.
- → The oil level must not fall below the Minimum marking or rise above the Maximum marking.
- → Only use engine oil approved by Porsche.
Information
- If a warning appears in the instrument cluster after you have filled in the correct amount of oil, open the engine cover and close it again after 60 seconds (engine cover reset).
- The correct oil level will then be displayed.
Test procedure with engine stopped and cold (engine temperature approx. 15-30°Celsius):
- Connect a battery charger.
- Connect the PIWIS Tester to the fuse carrier in the left footwell.
- 2.1 Switch on the ignition.
- Switch on the Tester and select the relevant vehicle.

- There is no need to create a Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL).
- Select DME in the control unit search screen.
- Switch to the Actual values/input signals menu item.
- Select the Oil pressure control function.
- Select the actual value Engine oil level sensor

Information
- The filling capacities are guidelines that can deviate slightly. This depends, for example, on the oil temperature and the length of time since the vehicle was driven.
- Read off the actual value.
The oil level must be > 50 millimeters in order to be able to start the engine without possible subsequent damage!
- "Min" oil level approx. 50 mm
- "Max" oil level approx. 80 mm
- Oil level approx. 110 mm = overfilled
Test procedure with engine idling in accordance with instructions on the Tester:
- Complete Steps 1-4.
- Switch to the Maintenance/repairs menu item.
- Select the Oil filling
function.
- 11.1 Follow the instructions in the test process.
- 11.2 As soon as the minimum oil temperature is reached, a display with the measuring time of 120 seconds appears.
- The oil level is displayed on the screen at the end of the measuring time.
- 12.1 Display in %: 100% = minimum, 200% = maximum!
- 12.2 A negative value indicates overfilling. If the overfill value is - 0.6 l or higher, oil must be drained!
- 12.3 If not enough oil is filled in, the remaining amount of oil to be added in order to reach the Max level is displayed!
