Disassembling Heater
Information
- When ordering spare parts, bear in mind that there are different repair sets and sealing sets for diesel and petrol heaters.
Component overview of heater
- Unscrew screws -8- and lift up cover for control unit -10- .
- Release clip -9- at the bottom, push it up and out and remove cover for control unit -10- .
- Unscrew screws -3- and carefully remove cover for combustion air blower -4- from the fuel connection for the fuel evaporator -27- .
- Disconnect plug connection -7- on the heater control unit -6- .
- Unscrew screws -11- and remove together with retaining clips -12- and -13- .
- Carefully pull out overheating sensor -14- and surface sensor -15- .
- Remove control unit -6- with wiring harness.
- Unscrew screws -1- and remove cover on electric motor -2- .
- Remove combustion air blower -5-

- 9.1 Release both plug contacts for the combustion air blower from connector housing -7- using release tool VAS 1978/35-42 (from the > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set ).
- 9.2 Pull fuel cut-off switch -33- with the graphite sleeve and the sleeve on the wiring harness out of the groove on the combustion air housing.
- Release both plug contacts for the fuel cut-off switch -33- from connector housing -7- using release tool VAS 1978/35-42 (from the > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set ).
- Remove glow spark plug -19-

- 11.1 Release both plug contacts for the glow spark plug from connector housing -7- using release tool VAS 1978/18 (from the > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set ).
- 11.2 Pull glow spark plug out of the combustion chamber insert -24- .
- Remove seal -25- and replace during installation.
- Remove combustion chamber insert -24-
from housing with heat exchanger -20-
.
- 13.1 Release both plug contacts for the combustion chamber insert from connector housing -7- using release tool VAS 1978/35-42 (from the > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set ).
- 13.2 Remove combustion chamber insert.
- 13.3 Remove seal -23- and replace during installation.
