Safety Measures When Working On Vehicles With Auxiliary Heating
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
Information
- It is important to ensure that the auxiliary heating timer is deactivated during a workshop visit and while working on the vehicle in order to prevent the auxiliary heating system from coming on unintentionally.
- The preset timer must be activated again following repair work.
- The auxiliary heating system must not be on or switched on in areas in which there is a danger of fire and risk of explosion.
- The auxiliary heating system must not be on or switched on in enclosed spaces without an exhaust extraction system.
- Always comply with the applicable safety regulations when working on the fuel system.
- The engine must not be started if components of the fuel system (e.g. metering pump, fuel line, fuel supply indicator) are removed or open.
- Before starting repair work on the auxiliary heating system: Relieve overpressure in the cooling system by carefully opening the catch on the coolant reservoir.
- The function of the auxiliary heating system must be checked following repair work on the auxiliary heating system or fuel system.
- When repair work is complete, perform on-board diagnosis of the auxiliary heating system using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
