Install The Cylinder Head Cover

Information 

For installation, the crankshaft must be locked in position.

Information 

• Sealant must not get into the threaded bores. 

1. Clean sealing surfaces.
2. Replace seal.
3. Oil the running surfaces of the camshafts.
4. Check that hydraulic tappets and valve levers are fitted correctly.
5. Fit cylinder head cover -20-  .
   1. 5.1 Apply beads of sealant with a diameter of approx. 3.0 mm all the way around.

      Install cylinder head cover within 5 minutes of applying the sealant bead.

   2. 5.2 > T40116 - Locating pins  must be inserted into the cylinder head cover -20-  .
   3. 5.3 Insert cylinder head cover -20-  into the cylinder head using > T40116 - locating pins  .

6. Screw in screws for cylinder head cover for right cylinder bank as far as they will go by hand and tighten in the sequence -1 to 20-  to > Initial tightening 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  and > Torque angle + 90°  .

7. Screw in screws for cylinder head cover for left cylinder bank as far as they will go by hand and tighten in the sequence -1 to 19-  to > Initial tightening 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  and > Torque angle + 90°  .

8. Connect and lock electric plug connections for camshaft sensors -1-  .

9. Install stoppers on camshaft -1-  .
   1. 9.1 Insert stoppers on camshaft -1-  .
   2. 9.2 Fit screws for stoppers -2-  and tighten to > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)  .
