Installing Number Plate Cover
- Number plate not fitted correctly.
→ Observe installation instructions for number plate covers.
→ Do not use additional number plate holders for mounting the front number plate.
→ Only fit the number plate within the specified periphery.
→ Make sure that the number plate is fitted flat on the specified contact surface.
Information
On ECE/USA vehicles, the number plate cover is secured with self-tapping screws. When fitting the number plate cover for the first time (e.g. on a new front apron), screw the screws directly into the front apron. There is no need to drill any holes.
On China/Japan vehicles, the number plate cover is secured with 4 screws in blind press nuts including washer.

Information
If the number plate cover is fitted too deeply, this can cause a malfunction of the adaptive cruise control system.
- Fit the number plate cover -1-
so that it fits perfectly on the front apron and screw in and tighten screws -2-

Tightening torque for screws on number plate cover, ECE/USA: > Tightening torque 2.5 Nm (1.8 ftlb.) (1.8 ftlb.)
Tightening torque for screws on number plate cover, Japan/China: > Tightening torque 0.6 Nm (0.44 ftlb.) (0.4 ftlb.)
Installing number plate cover
- Fit number plate bracket as far as possible on the outer corners of the number plate cover.
- Install number plate in number plate bracket.
