Removing Front Disc Brake Pads

Removing front brake pads
Information
- Do not open the brake system.
- Do not disconnect the brake hose from the brake calliper when loosening the brake calliper.
- The core of the warning contact wire must not be left exposed! Worn insulation will result in malfunctions.
- If necessary, remove a little brake fluid from the reservoir by suction in order to prevent an overflow when the disc brake pads are pushed back!
Information
- For easier access, turn the steering fully to the left or right!
- Release and disconnect electric plug connection for brake pad wear indicator -1-

- Disconnect electric line for brake pad wear indicator -3-
from the brake calliper.

- Unscrew screws -4-
and loosen brake line holder -5-
from the wheel bearing housing.

NOTE: Removal of brake calliper- Paint defects on brake calliper
→ Proceed with care when setting back the brake pads.
→ Protect the paintwork on the brake calliper from damage using a suitable cloth.

- Loosen brake calliper using >T10439 - assembly pins

Information
- Do not use an impact bolter.
- 4.1 Unscrew upper screw on the brake calliper and insert assembly pin -arrow-

- 4.2 Unscrew lower screw on the brake calliper and insert assembly pin -arrow-

- 4.3 Pull the brake calliper as far as required out of its installation position until the brake calliper engages in the cut-outs on the assembly pins >Brake calliper tool fitted

Carefully guide out the brake line and brake hose!

- Fit brake piston on the brake calliper between the disc brake pads using >9472 - brake piston reset tool
and press the disc brake pads back evenly >Pressing back disc brake pads (example)

Information
Make sure not to damage the dust boots on the brake pistons.
- Carefully push a screwdriver between the disc brake pads/brake callipers and lever the disc brake pads out by turning the screwdriver slightly >Removing brake pads (shown removed)

- Remove pad retaining springs.
