Left Turbocharger: Removal

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTE:

  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  1. Remove the engine undershield.

    Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD .

  2. Drain the engine oil.

    Refer to: ENGINE OIL DRAINING AND FILLING .

  3. Remove the exhaust.

    Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM - VEHICLES WITH: DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID .

  4. Remove the left Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve.

    Refer to: LEFT EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE .

    Release the intake air pipe.

  6. CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.

    • Remove the 2 bolts.
    • Remove and discard the gasket.
  7. CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.

    • Remove the turbocharger oil return pipe.
    • Remove and discard the gasket.

    Remove the turbocharger heatshield.

  9. CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.

    • Remove and discard the turbocharger oil feed pipe bolt.
    • Remove and discard the washers.

    Disconnect the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) electrical connector.

    Disconnect the electrical connector from the turbocharger.

    Remove the 4 bolts.

  13. WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.

    Release the coolant pipe.

  14. WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.

    • Release the coolant pipe.
    • Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

    Remove the exhaust manifold heatshield.

    Remove and discard the nut.

    • Remove and discard the nuts.
    • Remove and discard the gasket.

    • Remove the turbocharger coolant pipe.
    • Remove and discard the gasket.
