Removing Flywheel

NOTE:
Removing and installing flywheel
- Leaks
- Risk of damage to the flywheel and adjacent components
→ Be very careful during removal and installation.
→ Get another person to help because of the weight.
Installation position of flywheel for PDK transmission -1- with ten fastening screws -2- :
- Counter-hold tool WE 1487 -1-
must be screwed to the ring gear on the engine flange.
- 1.1. To do this, secure the tool through the lower left bore in the flange using a screw and M10 nut -2-

Information
- Check that the through-bores on the hub of the flywheel are flush with the screw heads.
- Screw heads can damage the flywheel when unscrewing them if the bores are not flush.
- A damaged flywheel must not be installed!
- 1.1. To do this, secure the tool through the lower left bore in the flange using a screw and M10 nut -2-

- Loosen and unscrew ten screws (multiple-tooth, a/f 12, M10 x 29) on the flywheel. Carefully remove the flywheel (it is quite heavy - so be careful).
- 2.1. The screws are micro-self-locking and must be replaced!
- 2.2. Remove adhesive residues from the threaded bores and clean with brake cleaner.
Allow a drying time of at least 10 minutes!
- Socket-wrench insert for internal serration screws, a/f 12
Information
- Check the diaphragm spring on the flywheel for mechanical damage before installing it.
- A damaged flywheel must not be installed!
- Check diaphragm spring -1-
on the flywheel for damage.
There must be no dents or damage!
- 3.1. The flywheel must be replaced if the diaphragm spring is damaged -arrow- .
