Actuator Dynamic Brake Function

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Land Rover Discovery and 2017 Land Rover Discovery. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Actuator Dynamic Brake Function (ADBF) mode is used if the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module cannot operate the brakes hydraulically, but still has wheel speeds available.

The wheel speed inputs allow the ABS control module to adjust the clamp load on the rear brakes as necessary to produce maximum deceleration without locking the wheels.

When the vehicle speed decreases to 3 km/h (2 mph), the ABS control module fully applies the Electric Park Brake (EPB).

ADBF uses the EPB actuators to apply the rear brakes only, there is no hydraulic brake application and the front brakes are not applied.
