General Procedures: Draining

WARNING: The spilling of hot engine oil is unavoidable during this procedure, care must be taken to prevent scalding.
CAUTION: Make sure the engine is warm.
  1. Refer to: ENGINE COVER - TDV6 3.0L DIESEL
  2. G11602090
    • Rotate the oil filter element housing six complete turns counter-clockwise.
    • Allow the engine oil to drain from the oil filter element housing for two minutes.
    • Remove the oil filter element housing.
  3. NOTE: Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

  4. WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

  5. Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD
  6. WARNING: Observe due care when draining engine oil as the oil can be very hot.
    CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

    Drain the engine oil.
