Installing Cover

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2019 Porsche 911, 2018 Porsche 911, 2017 Porsche 911, 2016 Porsche 911, and 2015 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Press oil seal -2-  into the upper cover -1-  .
    1. 1.1. Coat the outside of the oil seal with transmission oil.
    2. 1.2. Place cover on assembly aid 9692 -3-  and position it under the service press.
    3. 1.3. Position oil seal together with pressure piece 9234 -4-  on the cover.
    4. 1.4. Carefully press the oil seal as far as it will go into the cover.

  2. Install upper cover -1-  .
    1. 2.1. Fit the oil seal together with the upper cover on the transmission housing.
    2. 2.2. Tap upper cover into the transmission housing using pressure piece P299 -2-  .
    3. 2.3. The outer edge of the cover must end flush with the transmission housing.

  3. Install lower cover.
    1. 3.1. Tap lower cover into the transmission housing using pressure piece P299 -2-  .
    2. 3.2. The outer edge of the cover must end flush with the transmission housing.

  4. Position impact absorber -1-  and secure with fastening screws -2-  .

    Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)

  5. Install gear support.
    1. 5.1. Position transmission support -C-  and screw on fastening nuts -4-  .
    2. 5.2. Raise the transmission.
    3. 5.3. Position transmission bracket -A-  and hold it.
    4. 5.4. Insert transmission mount screw -1-  through the transmission support and transmission bracket into the transmission mount and screw on fastening nut -2-  .
    5. 5.5. Fit screws -3-  on the transmission bracket.
    6. 5.6. Attach water tube holder -B-  to the transmission bracket.

  6. Position brace plate -A-  and tighten screws -1-  .

    Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.) +90 Grad

  7. Secure gear support.
    1. 7.1. Tighten screws -3-  on the transmission bracket.

      Tightening torque 65 Nm (48 ftlb.) 

    2. 7.2. Tighten fastening nuts -4-  on the transmission support.

      Tightening torque 65 Nm (48 ftlb.) 

    3. 7.3. Tighten fastening nut -2-  on the transmission mount screw -1-  .

      Tightening torque 120 Nm (89 ftlb.)

  8. Lower and remove the transmission jack.
  9. Connect cable plug -1-  for temperature sensor to the transmission.
    1. 9.1. Push on cable plug.
    2. 9.2. Lock the cable plug with the locking element -arrow-  .
    3. 9.3. Attach claw plate holder -2-  .
