Replacing Rear Disc Brake Pads: Notes

Information 

  1. Partially remove brake calliper.
    1. 1.1. Release and unclip the connector for the brake pad wear indicator and remove it from the holder.
    2. 1.2. Evenly set back brake pads a little using water pump pliers.

      Information 

      • Never use an impact bolter to loosen and tighten the brake calliper on the wheel carrier. 
    3. 1.3. Remove fastening screws on the brake calliper -arrows-  .

    4. 1.4. Place brake calliper onto a suitable base (e.g. universal lift). Use a suitable cloth as an intermediate layer to protect paintwork from damage.

      When positioning the brake calliper on the base, carefully guide the brake hose!

  2. Position brake piston with piston resetting fixture (replaces P83) Nr.144  . Then press the brake pads back evenly → Pressing back brake pads  .

  3. Carefully slide a commercially available screwdriver between the brake pad/brake calliper and lever the brake pad out by turning the screwdriver slightly -direction arrows-  .

    When doing this, make sure not to damage the dust boots on the brake pistons.

  4. Remove pad retaining springs.
