Subsequent Work

  1. Secure the brake calliper on the wheel bearing housing. Use new fastening screws.

    Fit retaining plate for combination line for ABS and brake pad wear indicator on the wheel bearing housing using two fastening screws.

    Connect electric connectors for combination line for ABS and brake pad wear indicator and lock with a safety clip.

    Information 

    • New parking-brake shoes and new brake discs must be grinded down. 
    • Grinding applies only to vehicles with grey cast-iron brakes. 
    • PCCB brake discs/parking-brake shoes do not need to be grinded down. 
    • It is not necessary to grind down the parking-brake shoes if the parking-brake shoes are not replaced  . Set the brake shoes to the basic setting if necessary and calibrate the brakes → 468316 ADJUSTING AND CALIBRATING PARKING-BRAKE SHOES
  2. Adjust the parking brake and calibrate using the PIWIS Tester 9718  .

  3. Read out the PDCC fault memory (if the vehicle has PDCC) and erase the fault codes resulting from assembly work.
  4. Fit wheel. → Installing Wheel .
  5. Tighten axle nut (securing drive shaft to wheel bearing housing) (vehicle lowered, brakes operated by 2nd mechanic).
  6. Check wheel alignment values and make adjustments if necessary.

    → 449503 SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT, COMPLETE .
