Reading And Writing Values

NOTE: Voltage drop
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
  • Risk of damage to control unit
  • Fault entries in the control unit
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester II 9818  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in PIWIS Tester II 9818  .

  1. Switch off ignition and replace control unit. → 945719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR GAS DISCHARGE 
  2. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch on ignition.
  3. Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
  4. Select the corresponding control unit for left/right headlight  in the overview  .
  5. Select Maintenance/repairs  .
  6. Select Headlight start-up  and press [F12].
  7. Read the preconditions on the Tester.
  8. Select control unit for left/right headlight  and press [F8] to start.
  9. Press [F8] to start programming.
  10. Once programming is completed successfully, press [F12].
  11. Once coding is completed successfully, press [F12].
  12. Once the start-up procedure is completed successfully, press [F12].

    Information 

    The headlight beam adjustment system must be calibrated on vehicles without a levelling system (PASM). The next three steps are not required for vehicles with PASM

  13. Select Maintenance/repairs  .
  14. Select Calibrate headlight beam adjustment  and press [F12] to continue.
  15. Read the instructions on the Tester, check the chassis number and press [F12].
  16. Perform a function test. Switch on light, range adjustment motor adjusts up and down.
  17. Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
