Programming Transmission Control Unit (PDK)
- The raised vehicle can fall from the lifting platform, for example.
- Danger of crushing.
- Risk of damage to or from objects.
→ During calibration, the brake pedal must be blocked using a commercially available brake pedal lock.
→ The parking brake must be engaged.
→ The vehicle must not be raised and must be standing on its wheels.
- Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
- Risk of damage to control unit
- Fault entries in the control unit
- Coding in the control unit is aborted
- Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming
→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A to the vehicle battery.
Information
The PIWIS Tester II 9818 instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.
The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in PIWIS Tester II 9818 .
- Switch off ignition and replace control unit. → 373019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT (PDK) .
- Connect the PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and start the Tester. Switch on ignition and press [F12] to continue.
- Select the vehicle type and start the diagnostic application.
- Select the required control unit PDK in the overview .
- Select Maintenance/repairs .
- Select Control unit replacement and press [F12].
- Automatic coding must be selected. Then press [F12].
- Check the chassis number and press [F12].
- Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
- Switch to the Programming menu.
- Select Automatic programming
and press [>>].
Information
The wiper comes on once when DME programming is complete.
- Do not place any objects on the windscreen.
- Do not touch the windscreen during programming.
- Switch ignition off and on again.
- Select the required control unit PDK in the overview .
- Select Maintenance/repairs .
- Read out the PDK fault memory and check whether faults are present.
- 15.1. If faults are present, correct the faults according to Guided Fault Finding instructions.
- 15.1.1. Erase the fault memory, then switch ignition off and then on again .
- 15.2. If there are no faults present, proceed with the calibration process.
- 15.1. If faults are present, correct the faults according to Guided Fault Finding instructions.
- Select the Calibration menu and press [>>].
- Observe the warnings and test prerequisites displayed on the Tester.
- If the transmission and engine temperature do not correspond to the values on the Tester, calibration cannot be performed. For example: To read out the transmission temperature:
- 18.1. Select the Actual values, input signals menu, then CAN output signals and press [>>].
- 18.2. Select CAN input signals, Transmission sump temperature and press [>>].
- 18.3. Start the engine and allow it to warm up until the temperature display reads 60 °C .
- Activate the electric handbrake.
- Start the calibration process by pressing [F8] and [>>].
- Read the warnings and follow the instructions on the Tester, then press [F8] and [>>].
- 21.1. Programming starts.
- 21.2. Shift travel is calibrated.
- 21.3. Hydraulics are calibrated.
- 21.4. Clutches are calibrated.
- The Tester displays the message Calibration successful
. Press [>>]. Follow the instructions on the Tester.
- 22.1. Press [F8] and [>>] to erase the PDKit fault memory.
- 22.2. Select Calibration post preparation and press [<<]
- Select the Overview menu for an overview of all control units and press [F7]. Then select Read out all fault memories and erase if required and press [>>] to erase all fault memories.
- Exit the menu and perform a test drive. Read out the fault memory for all control units after the test drive.
