Preliminary Work

Information
Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position. When raising the suspension, use a suitable intermediate layer made of hard rubber. Do not move the vehicle if drive shafts have not been fitted and tightened.
- Remove the relevant hub cap using puller hook 9229/1 and loosen axle nut (lock nut) before raising the vehicle. Operate the brake while doing this (2 mechanics required).
- Raise the vehicle → 4X00IN LIFTING THE VEHICLE .
- Remove rear wheel → 440519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL .
- Remove brake calliper and suspend it at a suitable place in the wheel housing → 474119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR BRAKE CALLIPER .
- Remove brake disc → 465319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR BRAKE DISC .
- Remove brake shoes → 468320 REPLACING BRAKE SHOES → 468320 REPLACING BRAKE SHOES (PCCB) .
- Remove brake cover plate.
- Remove electric parking brake actuator → 468519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SPREADER DEVICE (EPB ACTUATOR) .
- Remove wheel bearing housing together with the drive shaft → 425219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL BEARING HOUSING and set it down.
- Remove drive shaft. Press out the drive shaft using puller set Nr.87-1 Pos.1 if necessary.
