Supporting Engine On The Body (Engine Safety Device)

WARNING: Danger of objects or loads falling down
  • Risk of squashing or crushing

→ Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

NOTE:

A unit lift, such as transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A WE 1082  or transmission and unit jack Junior Jack 2.0 WE 1223  with GA passenger-vehicle transmission plate WE 1224  , can also be used to support the raised vehicle while you are working.

NOTE:

The engine must be supported on the body in order to remove the front axle, oil guide housing, oil pump or similar components.

  1. Remove refrigerant line -2-  from the guide.
    1. 1.1. Open the clip -1-  .
    2. 1.2. Lift refrigerant line -2-  out of the guide and set it aside.
    3. 1.3. Move refrigerant line -3-  aside.

  2. Screw in supports -1-  , support T40091/50-51  on the engine safety device supplement T40091/54  and engine safety device supplement T40091/55  .
  3. Place supports -1-  , support T40091/50-51  with the engine safety device supplement T40091/54  and engine safety device supplement T40091/55  onto the free spring strut domes.
  4. Undo air hose from the throttle housing and set it aside.
  5. Press coolant hose aside.
  6. Position on the left  longitudinal member, adjustable foot T40093/51  , -1-  .

  7. Position on the right  longitudinal member, base T40093/50  , -1-  .
  8. Support T40093/3P  Screw in, -2-  , onto adjustable foot T40093/51  , -5-  , and base T40093/50 -1-  , and correct to a height.

  9. Pipe T40091/1  Push through, -1-  , at both ends through the support T40093/3P  until the middle.
  10. At both ends of the two pipes pipe T40091/1  , -1-  , attach the joiners T40091/3  , -3-  .
  11. Pipe T40091/1  Push through, -1-  , further and up to the support T40091/50-51  , -4-  .

  12. Safety device 10-222 A  Push, -1-  , crossways through the joiner T40091/3  .

  13. Lifting tackle 3033  Fasten, -3-  , to the spindle of the safety device 10-222 A  , -1-  .
  14. Fasten engine at the fastening points -2-  and -4-  pretension slightly.
