Removing Dashboard Support
Information:
- The number of fastening screws, fixing clips, plug connections, holders and trim panels can vary depending on equipment .
- The illustrations for removing and installing the drive mechanism are shown only on one equipment variant and may differ from the actual equipment variant .
- Some steps must be carried out automatically .
- Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle .
- Cover centre console with protective mat.
- Remove Kessy antenna on dashboard with the bracket. Refer to 966719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING KESSY ANTENNA .
- Unclip air guide -1- at the air conditioner and remove it.
- Unclip air guide -2- at the air conditioner and remove it.
- Unclip electric line -3- at bracket for passenger's airbag unit and remove bracket -4- .
- Unscrew fastening screw -5-
for the right air guide at the support.
Air guides
- Unscrew fastening screws -1- on the support.
- Unscrew fastening screws -2-
and remove holder -3-
.
Brackets
- Unscrew fastening screws -1, 2, 3-
on the air conditioner.
Mounting for air conditioning unit
- Carry out all steps required for loosening the dashboard wire harness from the support. WM 970819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WIRE HARNESS FOR DASHBOARD .
- Unscrew fastening screws -1- .
- Unscrew fastening screw -2- .
- Unscrew fastening nuts -3- .
- Unscrew fastening screw -4-
.
Mounting for support
The help of another person is required for steps 15 to 18.
- Press air conditioner -1- in direction of arrow -arrow- using a suitable tool and guide retaining lug -2- out of the bracket -3- .
- Carefully pull support -4- forward until the support -4- is removed fully at the studs -5- .
- Pad the strut -6- with foam to prevent damage to the windscreen.
- Carefully lift up the support -4-
and remove it.
