Installing Rear Cardan Shaft

Information 

The circlips on the transmission journal must always be replaced. These must be pressed on radially.

  1. Always replace the circlip on the transfer gear journal and rear final drive. This must be pressed on radially.
  2. Fit the cardan shaft with the help of a second mechanic and screw on the center bearing.
  3. Turn the cardan shaft to the previously made marks and fit it onto the journal by jerking it but without tilting the cardan shaft.
  4. Check that the cardan shaft is fitted securely by pulling on it with your hand. Then press on the shaft again in the direction of the transmission journal.
    1. 4.1. If the cardan shaft comes off when you pull it, the circlips will need to be replaced again.
  5. Further assembly is carried out in reverse order to removal.
