Installing Engine

Information 

Tightening torques, tightening sequence and assembly overviews for the engine and transmission:

• Group 1: 

  > WM, 1X00IN TECHNICAL VALUES - V6 BITURBO

• Group 2: 

  > 2X00IN TECHNICAL VALUES

• Group 3: 

  > WM 3X00IN TECHNICAL VALUES, TRANSMISSION (EXCEPT CAYENNE, CAYENNE GTS, CAYENNE TURBO S, CAYENNE S, CAYENNE S E-HYBRID, CAYENNE TURBO, CAYENNE (3.0))

Information 

• Replace O-rings on the cooling system. 
• Clean plug connection and coolant hoses before assembly. 
• Remove stoppers before fitting the coolant lines and hoses. 

Information 

• O-rings must always be replaced. 
• O-rings must be coated lightly with Kluber Syntheso Glep. 

Information 

Check the position of all lines, hoses and cables again during and following installation. Make sure that:

• The lines, hoses and cables are not installed twisted (markings on steel flexi-pipes!)
• The lines, hoses and cables are not exposed to any mechanical strain from the outside while driving, i.e. they must not be over-strained or deformed.
• The lines, hoses and cables are not rubbing against other moving components.
• The lines, hoses and cables cannot become clamped.

1. Align the engine and transmission under the vehicle using the lifting platform and guide it up into the body.
2. Secure the front-axle carrier and engine carrier to the body.

   1. Replace screws.
3. Secure chassis components to the front axle.

   > WM 4X00IN TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR FRONT AXLE (CAYENNE, CAYENNE GTS, CAYENNE TURBO S, CAYENNE S, CAYENNE S E-HYBRID, CAYENNE TURBO, CAYENNE S DIESEL, CAYENNE (3.0))

   1. Fit spring strut on wheel carrier.

      Replace screws.

   2. Fit connecting link on anti-roll bar.
   3. Fit upper transverse control arm to wheel carrier.
   4. Fit brake calliper and lines on the wheel carrier.

      Replace screws.

4. Fit universal joint on the steering gear.

   > WM 4X00IN TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR STEERING (CAYENNE, CAYENNE GTS, CAYENNE TURBO S, CAYENNE S, CAYENNE S E-HYBRID, CAYENNE TURBO, CAYENNE S DIESEL, CAYENNE (3.0))

   1. Replace screw.
   2. Install heat shield.
   3. Connect electric connector for steering.
5. Secure transmission cross member on the body.
   1. Replace screws.
6. Fit air-conditioning lines.
   1. Check O-rings and replace if damaged.
7. Connect and fit hoses and lines for steering and PDCC.

   1. Replace O-rings and seals.
8. Connect and fit coolant lines, coolant hoses and vent lines.
   1. Replace O-rings and seals.
   2. Grease O-rings.
9. Connect fuel lines.
10. Connect line to the vacuum pump.
11. Connect ground cable and B+ cable.
12. Route engine wire harness and connect electric connectors.

13. Connect electric connectors for oxygen sensors and route lines.
14. Connect electric connectors for automatic transmission and transfer gear.
15. Connect ATF lines to the radiator and screw them on securely.
    1. Replace O-rings.
