Adjusting Height Of Rear Lid

Information 

• Adjust gap dimensions on lid and add-on parts in accordance with gap specifications. 
• If the clearance in the opening is too great or too small, accessories must be centered with respect to the body. 
• Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points. 
• The specified values are guidelines, which should be observed as far as possible. 
• The guidelines apply to repair work and assembly work. 
• Use star gauges to check the gap dimensions.  > VAS 6937 - Adjusting gauge 

1. Check body gap dimensions.

   > 5590 REAR LID 

2. Loosen screws -1-  on the hinge on the rear lid at both sides so that the lid can still be moved.

3. Adjust the height of the lid by moving the lid and ensure that the gap between the lid and roof is parallel.
   • Rear lid to roof/P-roof (R1) > Gap dimension 4.5 mm + 1 mm - 0.2 mm 
   • Rear lid to roof/P-roof (R6) > Gap dimension - 0.2 mm + 0.8 mm - 0.7 mm

4. Tighten screws -1-  > Tightening torque 20 Nm (14.8 ftlb.)

5. Check gaps and make adjustments if necessary.
