Preliminary Work

Information 

Do not engage steering lock in order to ensure that the power steering gear and anti-roll bar can be removed easily.

1. Disconnect the battery.

   > WM, 2X00IN WORK INSTRUCTIONS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY

2. Remove primary catalytic converter(s).

   V6 biturbo: 

   > Removing and installing primary catalytic converter (V6 biturbo) 

   V6 monoturbo: 

   > WM, 267619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PRIMARY CATALYTIC CONVERTER (V6 MONOTURBO)

4. Remove front-axle support (front section).

   > WM, 400819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT-AXLE SUPPORT

5. Remove catalytic converter(s).

   V6 biturbo: 

   > Removing and installing catalytic converter (V6 BT) 

   V6 monoturbo: 

   > WM, 267319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CATALYTIC CONVERTER (V6 MONOTURBO)

6. Remove power-steering gear.

   > 489055 REPLACING POWER-STEERING GEAR

7. Remove ATF cooling line (rear section).

   > WM, 386219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ATF COOLING LINE (REAR SECTION)

8. Remove rear cardan shaft.

   > 393519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR CARDAN SHAFT

9. Pull off protection cap -1-  .

10. Disconnect wire harness for starter -2-  at the generator.
    1. 10.1 Unscrew nut -1-  .
    2. 10.2 Unclip wire harness for starter -2-  at the generator from the omega clip -3-  .
    3. 10.3 Remove wire harness for starter -2-  at the generator from the bolt.
