WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).

Information

Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.

Only for right drive shaft: Install front-axle support (front section).

Install wheel bearing housing.
> 405019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL BEARING HOUSING
Install cover for front underbody.
> WM, 519219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER FOR FRONT UNDERBODY
Install plenum panel cover.
WM, 852219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PLENUM PANEL COVER COUPE or WM, 852219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PLENUM PANEL COVER WAGON .
Fill air-spring strut.
> 430117 BLEEDING AND FILLING THE LEVELLING SYSTEM
Lift the wheel bearing housing as far as required using lifting equipment (e.g > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack ) until the lower trailing arm is horizontal > Zero position (shown on rear axle as an example)

Tighten threaded joint securing spring strut to lower trailing arm -2- > Initial tightening 90 Nm (67 ftlb.) > Final tightening + 120°
