Deflating And Inflating An Air Spring: Notes
Information
This function is used for bleeding when working on an air spring or the lines of an air spring (without any loss of system air). The air from up to two air-spring struts can be stored in the pressure accumulator.
- PIWIS Tester must be connected to the vehicle before starting the Tester. Switch on ignition.
- PIWIS Tester path:
Select the menu/function as follows.
- Chassis control →
- Maintenance/repairs →
- Replacement work on the air spring system →
- Replacement of an air spring →
- Bleeding an air spring
Information
Preconditions for filling an air spring/the air spring system
- Vehicle raised on a lifting platform, wheels freely suspended.
- All components of the system installed and connected.
- Applies only to rear air spring:
Lift lower trailing arm before filling and align air spring in lower trailing arm (air spring must not be hanging freely over the lower trailing arm).
- 3.1 Before filling, use > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack
to lift the lower trailing arm as far as required until the lower trailing arm is horizontal > Zero position
Zero position
- 3.2 Align air spring with groove -2- at the lug -3- of the trailing arm.
