on the housing -1-
to zero.
- Insert new clutch with > P90014/3 - holder-1- .
- Lock the clutch through three locking stages with audible engagement.
Information
The locking stages of the clutch audibly engage.
- Locking stages 1 and 2 by turning the clutch.
- Locking stage 3 by locking the wheel rim.
- Check for hole - nominal measurement 5 mm.
- 3.1 Engage locking stage 1 and 2 by turning the clutch slightly.
- 3.2 Engage locking stage 3 by blocking the outer wheel rim with a screwdriver -4-
and turning the clutch -3-
with > P90014/3 - holder-1-
at the same time.
Wheel rim, clutch
- 3.3 Check correct engagement of the clutch with nominal measurement 5 mm using a depth gauge > VAS 6082 - Depth gauge-2- in the hole.
- Measure the distance between bearing seat A
and the transmission housing and enter it in a log.
- 4.1 Set gauge > VAS 6594 - depth gauge on the housing to zero.
- 4.2 Take three measurements at different positions on the bearing seat and calculate the mean value.
- 4.3 If there are deviations > 1.5 mm , the clutch is not locked correctly.

- Measuring depth of bearing seat C
for the new
clutch cover
- 5.1 Remove depth gauge bridge from > VAS 6594 - depth gauge .
- 5.2 Set gauge > VAS 6594 - depth gauge
on the base of the plate of > P90014/4 - measuring device
to zero.
Setting gauge on base to zero
- 5.3 Insert new clutch cover -2-
on the > P90014/4 - measuring device-3-
plate on a level surface.
Measuring bearing seat cover
- 5.4 Measure the depth of bearing seat C and enter it in a log.
Depth of bearing seat
- Calculate axial dimension X
using the following formula using the logged values:
Axial dimension X = A - B - C
Example: Axial dimension X = 191.53 mm - 174.86 mm - 1.48 mm = 3.02 mm
- Use axial dimension X
to determine the bearing thickness
from the following table:
In the example calculation, a circlip of 3.0 results in
Axial dimension X Circlip 2.01 - 2.10 2.00 2.11 - 2.20 2.1 2.21 - 2.30 2.2 2.31 - 2.40 2.3 2.41 - 2.50 2.4 2.51 - 2.60 2.5 2.61 - 2.70 2.6 2.71 - 2.80 2.7 2.81 - 2.90 2.8 2.91 - 3.00 2.9 3.01 - 3.10 3.0 3.11 - 3.20 3.1 3.21 - 3.30 3.2 3.41 - 3.40 3.3 3.41 - 3.50 3.4 3.51 - 3.60 3.5 3.61 - 3.70 3.6 3.71 - 3.80 3.7 3.81 - 3.90 3.8 3.91 - 4.00 3.9 4.01- 4.10 4.0 4.11 - 4.20 4.1 - Fit new cover and new bearing into the transmission bell housing and check that they are seated evenly.
- Position spindle > P90014/2 - Spindle on input shaft.
- Guide > P90014/5 - assembly tool-5-
over the spindle > P90014/2 - Spindle
and place it flush.
Fitting nuts
- Tighten nut -6-
by hand in clockwise direction to achieve a form fit on the bearing.
- 11.1 Guide P90014/5-2 and P90014/5-1 out of the > P90014/5 - assembly tool over the spindle.
- 11.2 Fit ball bearing -4- using the spindle.
- 11.3 Screw nuts -2- and -3- onto the spindle.
Assembly tool over spindle
- Get another person to help guide the > P90014/1 - counter-hold tool-1-
over the > P90014/5 - assembly tool
and secure it to the transmission housing with four screws -2-
.
Securing counter-hold tool (illustration shows only one side)
- Insert rod -2- of > P90014/6 - measuring holder with pointed end into the > P90014/2 - spindle .
- Centre bridge of > P90014/6 - measuring tool
and > VAS 6079 - dial gauge-1-
.
Centering the gauge
- Adjust the dial gauge > VAS 6079 - Dial gauge
.
- 15.1 Lift spindle -2-
> P90014/2 - Spindle
and tighten nut by hand -1-
to remove the play of the retaining pivot on the clutch cover.
Tightening spindle
