Removing Strut

  1. Remove latch -1-  on line seal -2-  .
  2. Remove line seal -2-  .

  3. Only for vehicles with diesel engine:  Remove reducing agent supply line -2-  from upper part of plenum panel -3-  .

    Reducing agent supply line

    WARNING: Toxic substances 
    • Danger of poisoning or suffocation 
    • Danger of burns to the eyes and skin 

      → Ventilate the work area well.

      → Never ingest or inhale.

      → Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.

      → Wear personal protective gear.

      → Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.

    WARNING: Caustic fluids 
    • Danger of chemical burns 

      → Wear personal protective gear.

      → Ensure that there is good ventilation.

      → Avoid contact with caustic fluid.

      → If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

    NOTE: Aggressive fluids 
    • Risk of damage to components and surfaces 

      → Do not spill fluids.

      → In the event of contact, wash the component or surface with water.

      → Replace components that are already damaged.

    Information 

    Automatic back-siphonage of the reducing agent

    • When the ignition is switched off, the reducing agent is siphoned back out of the metering line for the reducing agent injection valve again into the reducing agent tank. 
    • It is important to wait until the back-siphonage process is completed fully before starting work in this area. This can take up to 10 minutes after switching off the ignition. 
    • Likewise, the battery must not be disconnected until after the back-siphonage process is complete, i.e. 10 minutes after switching off the ignition. 
    1. 3.1 Place a cloth underneath to absorb emerging reducing agent.
    2. 3.2 Release and disconnect reducing agent supply line at the reducing agent injection valve -1-  .
    3. 3.3 Guide reducing agent supply line with grommet out of upper part of plenum panel -3-  .
  4. Unclip line bracket -3-  .
  5. Unscrew and remove screws -4-  .

  6. Remove star nuts -5-  .
  7. Remove upper part of plenum panel at the centre -6-  .

  8. Unscrew screw -7-  on holder -8-  .

  9. Loosen alarm siren. 

    > WM, 966519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ALARM SIREN

    Information 

    • Lines remain fitted on upper part of plenum panel at the side. 
  10. Remove upper part of plenum panel at the side -9-  at the left and right and set it aside with lines.

  11. Fold up foam parts -10-  at the left and right.

  12. Remove strut -1-  .

    Removing strut

    1. 12.1 Unscrew fastening screws -2, 3 and 5- 
    2. 12.2 Unscrew nuts -4-  .
    3. 12.3 Swivel out strut under the air conditioning line.
