Removing Upper Trailing Arm

Information
Due to a change in the attachment concept for HBA angle sensor and trailing arm at the top, the following must be noted when replacing the trailing arm:
Old/new attachment concept
| left (A) | HBA angle sensor clipped to the top of the trailing arm (old) |
| right (B) | HBA angle sensor screwed to the top of the trailing arm (new) |
- HBA angle sensor with clip connection -A- for vehicles with production date up to 26.03.2019.
- HBA angle sensor with threaded connection -B- for vehicles with production date from 27.03.2019.
Information
If the upper trailing arm is to be used again, mark its position with respect to the body -arrows- using a felt-tip pen for example (assembly aid).
Marking upper trailing arm
- Production seams on the trailing arm can serve as the marking (useful when replacing the trailing arm) .
- Apply a different marking on the body.
- Threaded joints can no longer be adjusted once the work is done as the threaded joints are no longer accessible.
- Loosen fastening screws -1-
and remove upper trailing arm. Fastening nuts -2-
can be accessed from the plenum panel.
Mounting for upper trailing arm
- If the trailing arm is replaced at the top and a clip-mounted HBA angle sensor was installed:
Replace H BA angle sensor.
