Preliminary Work

Information 

Due to a change in the attachment concept for HBA angle sensor and trailing arm at the top, the following must be noted when replacing the trailing arm:

Old/new attachment concept

left (A) HBA angle sensor clipped to the top of the trailing arm (old) 

right (B) HBA angle sensor screwed to the top of the trailing arm (new) 

• HBA angle sensor with clip connection -A- for vehicles with production date up to 26.03.2019. 
• HBA angle sensor with threaded connection -B- for vehicles with production date from 27.03.2019. 

1. Remove cowl panel cover.

   > WM, 508719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COWL PANEL COVER

2. Applies only to upper left trailing arm:  Remove left strut.

   > 408619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING STRUT (DOME STRUT) 

3. Remove front air-spring strut.

   > 408519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT SPRING STRUT 

   > 433019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT AIR-SPRING STRUT

4. If the trailing arm is replaced at the top and a clip-mounted HBA angle sensor was installed:  Replace HBA angle sensor

   > WM, 947819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT ANGLE SENSOR FOR HEADLIGHT BEAM ADJUSTMENT (HBA)
