Removing Wheel Bearing Housing

  1. Remove brake cover panel -1-  .

    Mounting for brake cover panel

    1. 1.1 Unscrew fastening screws -2-  .
  2. Remove control arm spoiler -2-  .

    1. 2.1 Unscrew fastening screw -1-  .
    2. 2.2 Pull control arm spoiler lug off the shock absorber threaded joint.
  3. Loosen holder for level sensor -2-  from the trailing arm.

    1. 3.1 Unscrew fastening screw -1-  .
  4. Remove speed sensor -1-  .

    1. 4.1 Unscrew fastening screw -2-  .
  5. Remove cable holder -1-  .

    1. 5.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection on EPB actuator.
    2. 5.2 Unscrew fastening screws -2-  .
  6. Use > VAS 6926 - Puller set  to press the drive shaft peg max > Control value + 10 mm  into the wheel hub so that the drive shaft splines are no longer engaged in the wheel hub > Pressing in drive shaft

  7. Loosen threaded joint -1-  slightly (do not remove it!).

    Removing wheel bearing housing

    Information 

    • The wheel bearing housing can tilt outwards. 
    • Do not leave drive shafts hanging from the joint stop. 
  8. Loosen tie rod and upper control arm on the wheel bearing housing.

    1. 8.1 Get a second person to hold the wheel bearing housing and drive shaft.
    2. 8.2 Remove threaded joints -1 to 3-  .
    3. 8.3 Tilt wheel bearing housing outwards and tie up drive shaft at a suitable position.
  9. Remove threaded joint -1-  .

  10. If the wheel bearing housing, wheel bearing or wheel hub is replaced, the brake shoes and spreader device must also be removed or converted.

    > 468519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SPREADER DEVICE (EPB ACTUATOR)
