Removing Supply Line - V8 Biturbo (Section From Engine To High-Pressure Pumps)

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials

Danger of fire or explosion
→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.

→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

→ Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.

→ Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

→ Ventilate the work area well.

→ Never ingest or inhale.

→ Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.

Information

Escaping fuel must be soaked up using suitable binding material.
The fuel system must be depressurized before starting work on it.
Only work on the fuel system in well-ventilated rooms.
Any seals that were removed must always be replaced.
Never use sealant containing silicone or silicone spray when the injection system is open. Traces of silicone drawn in by the engine are not combustor and damage the oxygen sensors.

Information

Plastic lines must not be kinked or bent as this can make them brittle and start to leak.

Have suitable aids ready to collect emerging fuel and have suitable stoppers ready for closing off the supply line and its connection openings.
Remove heat shield on high-pressure pump -1- .
1. 2.1 Unclip electric line -5- from retaining clip -3- .
2. 2.2 Unscrew fastening screws -2 and 4- .
3. 2.3 Guide out heat shield on high-pressure pump -1- and remove sound absorber.

Heat shield for high-pressure pump - V8 biturbo (cylinders 1 to 4)
Remove coolant pipe -4- .
1. 3.1 Unscrew union nut -1- on supply line -2- .
  1. 3.1.1 Collect escaping fuel.
2. 3.2 Unscrew fastening screw -3- .
3. 3.3 Disconnect coolant pipe -4- from cylinder head.
  1. 3.3.1 Collect emerging coolant.
4. 3.4 Close off the cooling system using suitable stoppers.

Supply line on high-pressure pump - V8 biturbo
Disconnect supply line -3- from cylinder heads.
1. 4.1 Unscrew fastening screws for low-pressure supply line -1- .
2. 4.2 Unclip retaining clip -4- .
3. 4.3 Carefully push coolant pipe -2- aside to allow access to the supply line -3- .

Supply line connection for high-pressure pumps
Remove heat shield on high-pressure pump -2- .
1. 5.1 Unscrew fastening screws -1- .
2. 5.2 Guide out heat shield on high-pressure pump -2- and remove sound absorber.

Heat shield for high-pressure pump - V8 biturbo (cylinders 5 to 8)
Remove supply line -3- from high-pressure pump (cylinders 5 to 8).
1. 6.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -4- .
2. 6.2 Unclip supply line -3- from retaining clip -2- .
3. 6.3 Unscrew union nut -1- .
4. 6.4 Pull off supply line -3- .
  1. 6.4.1 Collect escaping fuel.
5. 6.5 Carefully guide out supply line -3- .
6. 6.6 Close off open fuel supply connections using suitable stoppers.
