Installing Turbocharger

Information
Replace sealing rings, gaskets and O-rings.
Information
- During installation, first install the turbocharger on bank 5-8 if it was removed.
- Grease new O-rings on the oil and coolant lines with Kluber Syntheso Glep.
- Fit new sealing ring -1-
on the exhaust manifold -2-
and position new connecting clamp -3-
on the flange.
Exhaust manifold seals
- Position turbocharger with new connecting clamp -1-
on the exhaust manifold.
- 3.1 Tighten hexagon nut -2-

> Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)

- 3.1 Tighten hexagon nut -2-

- Connect oil and coolant lines to the turbocharger and connection openings.
- Fit retainer plate -4-
on the coolant lines -2 and 3-
and secure with screw -1-

> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
Mounting for turbocharger coolant lines
- Connect return oil pipes -1-
at the front.
- 6.1 First connect the line for the turbocharger 5-8, then the line with the connecting flange of the turbocharger 1-4.
- 6.2 Fit and tighten screw -2-

> Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
Return oil pipes
- Secure supply oil pipes -1-
at the front with screws.
- 7.1 Screws on turbocharger: > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
- 7.2 Screws on crankcase: > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
Oil pipes supply line
- Connect cable plug on diverter valve and vacuum line to vacuum modulator on the left turbocharger.
- Connect vent line, vacuum line and cable plug on diverter valve on the right turbocharger.
- For replacing turbochargers:
Install positive crankcase ventilation hose.
