Subsequent Work

WARNING:
Steering-angle sensor not calibrated or calibrated incorrectly
- Unexpected vehicle handling
- Steering-angle sensor does not function
- Malfunction in steering-angle sensor
→ After working on wheel suspension parts, when replacing the steering-angle sensor, and after changing the wheel alignment values, calibrate the steering-angle sensor using the PIWIS Tester .
→ Keep the front wheels in straight-ahead position on the measuring platform during calibration.
→ For vehicles with electromechanical steering, also re-teach the electric steering lock settings.
If the previous wheel alignment values (on rear and/or front axle) were changed, the following subsequent work must be performed.
- Reactivate level control (sub-procedure "Activating height control") using the PIWIS Tester.
- Calibrate the steering-angle sensor.
- Teach power-steering gear (steering lock settings).
- If installed: Calibrate distance measuring sensor control unit (ACC sensor).
- If installed: Calibrate front camera.
- If installed: Calibrate infrared camera.
- Teach headlight beam adjustment using the PIWIS Tester

- 7.1 Connect the Tester to the vehicle and switch on the Tester.
- 7.2 Switch on ignition.
- 7.3 Start diagnostics.
- 7.4 Select "Front-end electronics control unit".
- 7.5 Select Maintenance/repairs tab.
- 7.6 Select "Teach headlight beam adjustment" in the menu and press F12 to continue.
- 7.7 Follow the instructions on the Tester.
