Refilling Coolant
- Risk of short circuit or fire
→ Read out the fault memory of all high-voltage systems before checking the pressure of the cooling system.
→ In the event of an insulation fault, do not apply pressure to the cooling system.
→ In the event of an insulation fault, have a high-voltage expert take care of the issue.
- Risk of damage to vehicle components
→ After relieving the system pressure, do not start the engine or high-voltage system.
→ Fill and bleed the cooling system correctly before starting the engine or high-voltage system.
- Check the fault memory of all high-voltage systems and if an insulation fault is present, have a high-voltage expert take care of the issue.
- Switch off ignition and disconnect 12 V battery. This ensures that the low-temperature change-over valve is open.
- If you have not already done so, screw the cap adapter for the coolant expansion tank onto the reservoir.
- Connect the vacuum gauge of the bleeder tool to the flexible extension. When doing so, make sure that both shut-off valves are closed (positioned at 90° with respect to flow direction).
- 4.1 Connect the flexible extension (FZ 100) to the cover.
- Connect the Venturi nozzle to the vacuum gauge -Arrow-
.
Connecting Venturi nozzle to vacuum pressure gauge
Information
- The filling process is completed more quickly if the canister is positioned at roughly the same height as the coolant reservoir.
- Place a canister with a sufficient amount of coolant and with an antifreeze content of - 35°C beside the vehicle close to the reservoir.
- Push the filler hose -5-
of the vacuum pressure gauge onto the canister connection. Route the return line -6-
from the Venturi nozzle to a second container.
Components of vacuum-filling device
Information
- If no vacuum is generated (the pointer does not move to the green area), there is a leak in the cooling system.
- If a vacuum is still not established, there is a blockage in the tool. Clean the device, use clean compressed air.
- Deformation of the rubber hoses of the cooling system is normal.
- Pressure of between 6 and 10 bar must be present. The higher the pressure, the better the vacuum in the vehicle cooling system.
- When the pressure gauge pointer is in the green area of the display scale, a sufficient vacuum has been built up.
- After both shutoff valves on the vacuum pressure gauge have been closed and the compressed air supply has been disconnected, the vacuum must not drop. If the vacuum drops within approx. 30 seconds, there is a leak in the coolant circuit.
- Connect the compressed air supply.
Connecting compressed air supply
- Open both shutoff valves on the vacuum gauge until the transparent filler hose has completely filled with coolant > Shut-off valve with pressure gauge
.
Shut-off valve with pressure gauge
- Close the left shutoff valve (V1) -Arrow-
on the vacuum gauge and allow a vacuum to build up in the coolant circuit.

to be connected to Venturi nozzle.
Do not use electric vacuum pump for more than 5 minutes!
- 12.1 Use a 12-volt external power supply for the vacuum pump.
- 12.2 Switch on electric vacuum pump and open the shut-off valve at the Venturi nozzle for the pump connection.
- 12.3 Check the coolant level in the overflow tank while using the electric vacuum pump!
- 12.4 Close the shut-off valve at the Venturi nozzle after 5 minutes and switch off the electric vacuum pump.
- 12.5 Disconnect connecting line from the electric vacuum pump to the Venturi nozzle.

- Open the left shutoff valve (V1) on the vacuum gauge again. The cooling system is then filled.
- When there is no trace of vacuum present and coolant is no longer drawn from the canister (approx. 2 minutes), open the right shut-off valve (V2).
