Removing Pistons
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Mark the allocation of the pistons to the cylinder for re-installation using paint.
Do not mark pistons using a mechanical tool!
- Remove piston -3-
.
- 2.1 Use > T40263 - wrench, 21 mm
and > T40314 - adapter
to turn the crankshaft as far as required until the relevant piston -3-
is accessible.
Be careful of the timing chain.
- 2.2 Unscrew connecting-rod bearing cap screws -1- and remove connecting-rod bearing cap -2- .
- 2.3 Lift piston -3- up out of the cylinder bore and remove it.
- 2.4 Fit connecting-rod bearing cap -2-
back on the related connecting rod to prevent it from getting mixed up.

- 2.1 Use > T40263 - wrench, 21 mm
and > T40314 - adapter
to turn the crankshaft as far as required until the relevant piston -3-
is accessible.
