  1. Drain refrigerant.

  2. Disconnect the battery ground strap.

  3. Remove front trim panel (engine compartment).

  4. Remove engine cover.

  5. Loosen intake scoops -1-  .
    1. 5.1 Open screw-type clamps -2-  and pull off intake scoops.

  6. V8 Turbo only: 
    1. 6.1 Remove air-cleaner cowl -1-  .

    2. 6.2 Loosen screw-type clamps -3-  and remove cowl.

  7. Remove air guide -1-  at the radiator frame.
    1. 7.1 Loosen clips -2-  .
    2. 7.2 Remove air guide by pulling it upwards.

  8. Remove front wheel housing liners.

    → Removing and installing front wheel housing liner

    WARNING: Refrigerant 
    • Danger of freezing 

      → Avoid contact with refrigerant.

      → Wear personal protective gear.

      → Observe the safety regulations for working on air-conditioned vehicles and handling refrigerant.

      → Observe the safety regulations for extraction and filling systems.

      → Observe the instructions for repairing air-conditioning systems and storing spare parts.

    NOTE: Opened refrigerant system for repairs. 
    • Moisture penetrated into the refrigerant system. 
    • Risk of contaminating the refrigerant circuit. 
    • Risk of saturation and irreparable damage to desiccator. 
    • Irreparable damage to the desiccator can damage the compressor and evaporator. 

      → The desiccator must be replaced if the air humidity is high and if the refrigerant circuit is left open for a long time.

    Information 

    • Open connections and lines must be closed off using suitable stoppers or caps. 
  9. Disconnect air-conditioning lines -1-  and -2-  at the condenser.
    1. 9.1 Loosen and unscrew screws -3-  using > VAS 6928 - socket wrench set, 39-piece  .

    WARNING: Working with ATF 
    • Possible danger of injury or damage (e.g. swollen hoses, skin irritation, danger of slipping, etc.) 

    → Before lines are opened, place a cloth underneath them!
    → Components that come into contact with ATF must be cleaned IMMEDIATELY with water!
    → Take appropriate protective measures (protective clothing, safety goggles, oil binding material)
    → Collect emerging ATF!
    WARNING: Hot fluid 
    • Danger of scalding 

      → Let the fluid cool down.

      → Wear personal protective gear.

    Information 

    • Open connections and lines must be closed off using suitable stoppers or caps. 
  10. Loosen ATF lines at the ATF cooler.

    1. 10.1 Unscrew screw and disconnect lines.
    2. 10.2 Collect emerging oil.
  11. Remove exhaust system.

  12. Remove rear cardan shaft.

  13. Loosen moulded hose -1-  at the bottom on both sides of the charge-air cooler.
    1. 13.1 Loosen screw-type clamp -bottom arrow -  and pull off pressure hose.

  14. Drain coolant.
