Warning Notes For Handling Refrigerant
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2023 Porsche Panamera, 2022 Porsche Panamera, 2021 Porsche Panamera, 2020 Porsche Panamera, and 2019 Porsche Panamera. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
Refrigerant
- Danger of freezing
→ Avoid contact with refrigerant.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Observe the safety regulations for working on air-conditioned vehicles and handling refrigerant.
→ Observe the safety regulations for extraction and filling systems.
→ Observe the instructions for repairing air-conditioning systems and storing spare parts.
Information
The refrigerant circuit must be flushed with refrigerant if:
- There is dirt or other impurities in the refrigerant circuit.
- When evacuating a leak-tight refrigerant circuit, the vacuum gauge does not maintain a constant vacuum (there is moisture in the refrigerant circuit and this builds up pressure).
- The refrigerant circuit was open for longer than the normal assembly time (e.g. after an accident).
- Pressure and temperature measurements in the refrigerant circuit indicate that there is moisture in the refrigerant circuit.
- The air-conditioning compressor had to be replaced due to internal damage (e.g. noises or not working).
- A different air-conditioning compressor with different refrigerant oil has to be installed.
- There are granules in the refrigerant circuit due to a faulty desiccator.
The refrigerant circuit must not be flushed with refrigerant if:
- there is contaminated refrigerant in the refrigerant circuit. We recommend that you replace all components.
Information
- For all work on the air-conditioning system that necessitates opening the refrigerant system, the system contents must first be disposed of in accordance with regulations.
- Dirt and moisture must be kept out of the air-conditioning system pipes and hoses.
- Cleanliness must be ensured during all work.
- System components must never be cleaned on the inside with hot steam.
- Only use nitrogen for cleaning.
- When replacing a component, all openings must be closed off using suitable stoppers immediately after opening the system.
Information
- The components (with the exception of the electric air-conditioning compressor) are always flushed against the direction of flow of refrigerant in the air conditioning system.
- The filter in the flushing device for refrigerant circuits must be changed after 5 to 10 flushing cycles (flushed vehicles), depending on the type and extent of contamination of the flushed refrigerant circuits. If a highly contaminated refrigerant circuit is flushed (the refrigerant machine oil from the refrigerant circuit is black and viscous or there are a lot of chips in the refrigerant circuit), the filter must be changed after flushing this refrigerant circuit. If a refrigerant circuit is highly contaminated like this, it is also a good idea to flush the refrigerant circuit again after changing the filter.
