Installing Knee Airbag On Driver's Side

WARNING: Incorrect handling of safety bolts 
  • Danger of injury 
  • Loss of torque 

    → Always use new screws or nuts following removal.

    → Comply with instructions for repairs.

    → Observe specified tightening torques.

    → Carry out a visual inspection of parts used.

Information 

Always replace fastening screws and nuts on the airbag unit after customer service and reworking.

  1. Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:

    Screw in and tighten screws securing knee airbag on driver's side to cross member > Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.6 ftlb.) 

    Screw in and tighten screws for lower dashboard trim panel > Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.) 

    Screw in and tighten screw for lower dashboard trim panel > Tightening torque 1.5 Nm (1 ftlb.)
