Subsequent Work

  1. Only for cylinder bank 2:
    1. 1.1 Install intake hall sender.

      > Refer to the appropriate Service Information for Removing and installing hall sender (V8 biturbo)

    2. 1.2 Install guide for oil dipstick.
    3. 1.3 Install brake booster vacuum pump.

    > 477619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM PUMP

  2. On the relevant side: 
    1. 2.1 Install camshaft actuator.

      > WM, 158420 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CAMSHAFT ACTUATORS (INCLUDES SETTING TIMING) 

    2. 2.2 Close off bearing tunnels with rubber caps. Exception: Left intake side with brake booster vacuum pump.
    3. 2.3 Install chain housing cover.

      > WM, 153319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LOWER CHAIN HOUSING COVER (V8 BITURBO)  or WM, 153319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING UPPER CHAIN HOUSING COVER (V8 BITURBO) 

    4. 2.4 Install fuel injectors.

      > WM, 244019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INJECTOR VALVE (INJECTOR)

    5. 2.5 Install solenoid hydraulic valve for valve lift adjustment.

      > 155519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SOLENOID HYDRAULIC VALVE FOR VALVE LIFT ADJUSTMENT 

    6. 2.6 Install high-pressure pump and move tappets -1-  into installation position.
    7. 2.7 Install fuel collection pipe.

      > 243019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FUEL COLLECTION PIPE (V8 TURBO)

    8. 2.8 Install fuel line (high-pressure pump to rail).

      > 249019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FUEL LINE (LEFT HIGH-PRESSURE PUMP TO RAIL) (V8 BITURBO)

      > 249019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FUEL LINE (RIGHT HIGH-PRESSURE PUMP TO RAIL) (V8 BITURBO)

    9. 2.9 Fit upper heat insulation.
    10. 2.10 Install ignition coils.

      > 282020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING IGNITION COILS (V8 BITURBO)

    11. 2.11 Install tank vent valve with lines.

      > 202319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TANK VENT VALVE

    12. 2.12 Install oil mist separator.

      > 105519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (LEFT) OIL MIST SEPARATOR (V8 BITURBO)

      > 105519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (RIGHT) OIL MIST SEPARATOR (V8 BITURBO)

    Tappets for high-pressure pump

  3. Clip in engine wire harness at the relevant points and connect cable plugs.

    > WM, 975219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE WIRE HARNESS

  4. Install the engine.

    > 100119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE
