Installing Fuel Tank

Information 

Carefully guide in the fuel tank to prevent damage to both paintwork and PVC seams. When guiding the filler head into the filler flap seal, make sure not to damage the seal or press it out of the body.

1. Install fuel tank -4-  .

   Installation is performed in reverse order to removal.

   Fit fastening screws -1 and 2-  and tighten to > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)  .

   Fit fastening screws -3-  and tighten to > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)  .

2. Fit carbon canister line -2-  .
   1. 2.1 Installation is performed in reverse order to removal.

3. Fit fuel filler tube -5-  .
   1. 3.1 Position fuel filler tube -5-  with holders in the body.
   2. 3.2 Fit fastening screws -1, 2, 3-  .

      Observe specified tightening sequence for fastening screws -1, 2, 3-  .

      Tighten fastening screws -1, 2, 3-  to > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  until secure.

   3. 3.3 Connect electric plug connection -4-  .

4. Fit cap -1-  .

5. Clip in the hose.
6. Connect plug-in coupling for fuel line.
7. Attach vent line in the body and clip it onto the fuel filler tube.
8. Install protective cover -4-  .
   1. 8.1 Position protective cover -4-  .
   2. 8.2 Fit fastening screws -1, 2, 3-  .

      Observe specified tightening sequence for fastening screws -1, 2, 3-  .

      Tighten fastening screws -1, 2, 3-  to > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  until secure.

9. Connect fuel tank connections.
   1. 9.1 Remove stoppers from the fuel lines and connection openings.
   2. 9.2 Connect plug-in coupling -1-  for fuel lines.
   3. 9.3 Connect electric plug connections -2-  .

10. Install cover -1-  in the floorpan.
    1. 10.1 Position cover -1-  for fitting in the floorpan according to the marking -2-  over groove -3-  .
