Measuring Amount Of Petrol Residue In Diesel

Information 

Risk of damage to sensor head on fuel detector.

• Protect sensor head to prevent the ingress of fluids. 
• Only perform test when filter pad is affixed. 
• Do not blow out sensor head using compressed air. 

Information 

Start the test immediately after filling the measuring cylinder with fuel.

• Outgassing petrol will give an incorrect test result. 

1. Connect fuel detector to a 12 V power source.
   1. 1.1 Variant 1: Connect directly into 12 V socket or cigarette lighter in the passenger compartment.
   2. 1.2 Variant 2: Connect to the vehicle battery using adapter for battery connection.
2. Affix filter pads -1-  for fuel detector to the sensor head -2-  on the fuel detector.

3. Push the measuring cylinder -1-  into the fixing clip -2-  in the case -Arrow-  .

4. Place the spindle sleeve -1-  under the lid of the case -Arrow-  so that the measuring cylinder is horizontal.

5. Pour 500 millilitres (ml) of fuel into the measuring cylinder.

6. Carry out a self-test on the fuel detector.

   Fuel detector

   1. 6.1 Press -1-  Test button. The self-test takes 1 minute.
   2. 6.2 LED -2-  lights up green - Fuel detector is ready for the test.
   3. 6.3 LED -3-  lights up red - Check power supply/sensor head and repeat test.
7. Push -1-  fuel detector -2-  into the measuring cylinder -Arrow-  .

   1. 7.1 Coat O-ring -3-  with fuel.
   2. 7.2 Press button -4-  for bleeder valve in the fuel detector.
8. Start test for measuring the amount of petrol residue in the diesel.

   1. 8.1 Press -1-  Test button. The test takes 3 minutes.

   Evaluating test result

   1. 9.1 LED -1-  lights up green = no petrol residue in the diesel.
   2. 9.2 LED -2-  lights up red = petrol residue in the diesel.
   WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials 

   • Danger of fire or explosion 

     → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

     → Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.

     → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

     → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.

     → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

   Information 

   • Only carry out the analysis in well-ventilated rooms and at room temperature (20° Celsius). 
   • Before starting the analysis, have a good look at the information on the CD and read the leaflet (supplied in the case) carefully. 
   • This analysis can only determine a reference value; a laboratory test is required for an exact analysis. 
   • The analysis does not constitute a legal basis; it is the starting point for further steps.

   3. Pour 500 millilitres (ml) -Arrow-  of fuel into the measuring cylinder.

   4. Carefully immerse the measuring spindle into the liquid and let it go.

      1. 4.1 The spindle must be floating in the middle in order to read off the scale value.

      Information 

      • Fuel, fuel mixes and cleaning mixes must be disposed of according to the applicable national regulations. 
   6. After testing the fuel, wash out and wash off measuring equipment thoroughly using the cleaning brush, washing-up liquid and hot water.
